what the Bible actually says on Tithing

cross

,

Most people still have personally never even firstly had studied, read what the Bible actually says on Tithing nor have they been taught by the Holy Spirit firstly, not even many preachers..

.

They are mere parrots reciting what others have told them too often rather.. Desiring to be teachers they know nothing about what they still write even.. Anyone obviously can preach but obviously are  not even led by the Holy Spirit.. most are pretenders, imposters it seems.. and since when is a Jewish commandment applicable now for any Christians, and what other Jewish commandments do you falsely also follow.

Matt. 23: 23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint, and anise, and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ye ought to have done, and not to leave the other undone. 24 Ye blind guides! which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

.

It is obvious that the Lord Jesus told the Jews, the Pharisees specially to not neglect paying the obligatory tithe and next as a reflection of His judgment on them: in that they were not of His sheep. It was characteristic of Our Lord Jesus to encourage the self righteous in their works, and even to increase the requirement, so as to show them that they were not made righteous by these works

.

Jesus Christ wants all of you and not just ten percent. And if you were so Bible knowledged, and you should stop  reading other people’s mail, as the book of Malachi was written to the Jewish priests who were stealing the tithes, as most people who collect the tithe steal it too from God still.. .. And  if you want to tithe to Jesus and give your all of first fruits to him for what ever reasons now that is your choice.. but that is not full tithing as per the old testament and it is still not mandatory on all.. Not of works, lest any man should boast.”  Ephesians 5:9

.

Just cause a person tithes, does not mean he is spiritual, more likely he is still even coming tax evasion, cheating, steal, abusing  in my personal witness and experiences

.

(1 Thess 2:2 KJV)  But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention. 3  For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile: 4  But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts. 5  For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloak of covetousness; God is witness: 6  Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ. 7  But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:

.

A voluntary not forced Tithing the giving of  ten percent of all your incomes directly to God, poor people, God’s work, now  is a great place to start but God still next wants all of you, all that you own, all of your wants, needs, desires, your whole life. 2 Corinthians 8:5 And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God. 2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
.

IT IS TRUE, A FACT THAT FOR many years many people have been looking even for the one Bible verse that would make them rich and famous too.AND TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE LEAD FALSELY TO BELIEVE THAT TITHING WILL LEAD TO, GUARANTEE FINANCIAL PROSPERITY.  YOU CANNOT BUY OR EARN YOUR WAY TO HEAVEN STILL.  IT IS NOT YOUR TITHING THAT WILL BLESS YOU FIRSTLY BUT IT IS GOD HIMSELF..  (Prov 10:22 KJV) The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

.

Tithing – giving 10 percent of all of their incomes supposedly directly to God, but today Tithing preaching is evil in many ways.. it is a false attempt to enslave us under a false obedience to the false laws.. Old Testament laws that we are not obligated to follow as Christians. ”Tithing was divinely instituted by God under the old covenant and was compulsory upon the people who worshiped God ( upon Jews only),. Tithing IS the old Testament.. as it is no longer found in the New Testament basically.. ANY OF THOSE LYING THEIVES WHO TAKES THE TITHES HE ALSO CANNOT OWN ANY TANGIBLE PROPERTY LIKE A HOUSE, CONDO..
.

Do note also that like today in social aid, the people receiving social aid they now cannot own major tangible property, real estate, so any of the people, priests receiving the old testament tithes they also could not own any major tangible, real estate properties.. but today the false priest, pastors who are demanding on receiving tithes they falsely also do want to still own a home… to enjoy the monetary rewards of both.. they are still equivalent of welfare cheats!!!! undeniably too the Old Testament Levites, and the poor persons, or anyone who would enjoy the benefits of the tithes they did not own or could not own any land, or a house. The Lord God stated that the Levites would have no inheritance of land but would be given a portion of the tithe instead. Such an injunction would also apply today to anyone claiming a right to receive a tithe too. Numbers 18:20 (NIV) 20 The LORD said to Aaron, “You will have no inheritance in prosperity that now happens one day at a time with our walk with Jesus, it is firstly a spiritual one, for we are rich in Him and famous for our great exploits through Him as well not rather solely Money, the love of which is the root of all evil still.. I am also tired of hearing from the persons who wrongfully distort, take one isolated verse about prosperity being wealth, money and they do also wrongfully leave out all of the rest of the Bible verses that speak on giving to the poor and needy, about overall true prosperity and not just more money now as well.. their land, nor will you have any share among them; I am your share and your inheritance among the Israelites.

.

Real prosperity  now happens one day at a time with our walk with Jesus, it is firstly a spiritual one, for we are rich in Him and famous for our great exploits through Him as well not rather solely Money, the love of which is the root of all evil still.. I am also tired of hearing from the persons who wrongfully distort, take one isolated verse about prosperity being wealth, money and they do also wrongfully leave out all of the rest of the Bible verses that speak on giving to the poor and needy, about overall true prosperity and not just more money now as well..  (3 John 1:2 KJV) Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. Yes prospering greatly in the Lord firstly? with personal visible good works too? good works on behalf of others, the poor and needy persons too?

.

(Deu 16:17 KJV) Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee.

.

IN THE NEW TESTAMENT (1 Corinthians 16:2 KJV) “Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.” Note nothing about a minimum amount in specific tithing obligations was, is mentioned here and why? (GALATIANS 2:10 KJV) Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do. God has designed the churches also should help the poor, help one another, other churches, and that can next also include any other ministries that God will, will lead you to give to now as well.. a real ministry is where someone actually looks after the good physical and spiritual welfare of the flock of God, not just in words, but with real visible , good deeds. (Mat 7:20 KJV) Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. (Mat 7:21 KJV) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Luke 16:9 KJV) And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. (Luke 16:10 KJV) He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. (Luke 16:11 KJV) If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

.

Also, every third year, the Israelite was required to store his tithe in his own town to feed the fatherless, aliens, and widows as required by the Lord. This was the tithe of the poor. (ma’aser ani) (Deuteronomy 14:22-29, 26:12-15) (Amos 4:4-5)The Biblical reality also now that only 10 percent of the collected tithe in the Old testament every three years went directly to the storehouse?

.

AND 1/7 OFF THE TITHE IS TO BE GIVEN TO THE LOCAL POOR.. IF YOU SAY YOU BELIEVE IN TITHING THEN YOU MUST BELIEVE IN HELPING THE LOCAL POOR PEOPLE WITH IT. AND WE CAN ALL SEE THE EVIDENCE IF IT TOO.

(2 Cor 8:1 KJV) Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia; 2 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. 3 For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves; 4 Praying us with much entreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. 5 And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.

.

Ministering to the saints does not mean solely religious empire building, paying of building funds, and the physical maintenance costs. As you still do not need a church building to practice tithing or  ministering to the saints

.

The tithe was also paid directly to the storehouse only every 3rd year? and the other two years the thither himself enjoyed the tithes himself by now also personally feasting on it? Did you ever hear your preacher tell you that and why not? Obviously he wanted your share of the tithe. Deuteronomy 14:22-29 (NIV) 22 Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. 23 Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the LORD your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the LORD your God always. 24 But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the LORD your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the LORD will choose to put his Name is so far away), 2 5 then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the LORD your God will choose. 26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice. 27 And do not neglect the Levites living in your towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance of their own. 28 At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns, 29 so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the aliens, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

.

Deuteronomy 26:12-15 (NIV) 12 When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the alien, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied. 13 Then say to the LORD your God: “I have removed from my house the sacred portion and have given it to the Levite, the alien, the fatherless and the widow, according to all you commanded. I have not turned aside from your commands nor have I forgotten any of them. 14 I have not eaten any of the sacred portion while I was in mourning, nor have I removed any of it while I was unclean, nor have I offered any of it to the dead. I have obeyed the LORD my God; I have done everything you commanded me. 15 Look down from heaven, your holy dwelling place, and bless your people Israel and the land you have given us as you promised on oath to our forefathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.”

.

Deuteronomy 12:4-19 (NIV) 4 You must not worship the LORD your God in their way. 5 But you are to seek the place the LORD your God will choose from among all your tribes to put his Name there for his dwelling. To that place you must go; 6 there bring your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and special gifts, what you have vowed to give and your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks. 7 There, in the presence of the LORD your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you have put your hand to, because the LORD your God has blessed you. 8 You are not to do as we do here today, everyone as he sees fit, 9 since you have not yet reached the resting place and the inheritance the LORD your God is giving you. 10 But you will cross the Jordan and settle in the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and he will give you rest from all your enemies around you so that you will live in safety. 11 Then to the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for his Name-there you are to bring everything I command you: your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and special gifts, and all the choice possessions you have vowed to the LORD. 12 And there rejoice before the LORD your God, you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maid servants, and the Levites from your towns, who have no allotment or inheritance of their own. 13 Be careful not to sacrifice your burnt offerings anywhere you please. 14 Offer them only at the place the LORD will choose in one of your tribes, and there observe everything I command you. 15 Nevertheless, you may slaughter your animals in any of your towns and eat as much of the meat as you want, as if it were gazelle or deer, according to the blessing the LORD your God gives you. Both the ceremonially unclean and the clean may eat it. 16 But you must not eat the blood; pour it out on the ground like water. 17 You must not eat in your own towns the tithe of your grain and new wine and oil, or the firstborn of your herds and flocks, or whatever you have vowed to give, or your freewill offerings or special gifts. 18 Instead, you are to eat them in the presence of the LORD your God at the place the LORD your God will choose-you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the Levites from your towns-and you are to rejoice before the LORD your God in everything you put your hand to. 19 Be careful not to neglect the Levites as long as you live in your land.

.

Amos 4:4-5 (NIV) 4 “Go to Bethel and sin; go to Gilgal and sin yet more. Bring your sacrifices every morning, your tithes every three years. 5 Burn leavened bread as a thank offering and brag about your freewill offerings- boast about them, you Israelites, for this is what you love to do,” declares the Sovereign LORD.

.

It was characteristic of Our Lord Jesus to encourage the self righteous in their works, and even to increase the requirement, so as to show them that they were not made righteous by these works

.

EVEN IN THE NEW TESTAMENT SOME PERSONS LIED ABOUT THEIR real INCOMES

.

(Acts 5:3 KJV) But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? 4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

.

Note this that none cent of the tithe, not one cent of the tithe, now still was to go to the temple upkeep, or to the mortgages, building funds.. for there were other specific offerings to be collected for this.. Is this than also being practiced by the churches today? No! and why not if tithing is applicable today in full?.

.

It is again interesting that those who believe we must enforce tithe today that they do not follow the entire letter of the law in this matter in their preaching of the New Testament, new Covenant for the law required also several tithes, including tithing to the local poor persons, all which would amount to considerably more than ten percent. Now my God has already promised to supply all your needs by Jesus Christ already so why do you want to even tithe firstly? what are your real motives in doing so?

.

In reality the Old Testament Book of Malachi the one most often used a reference to application of tithing in any CHURCH today firstly was written directly ironically too to the bad priests who were stealing the tithe that all belongs to God firstly. The earth is the Lord’s, and every thing in it, the world, and all who live in it. (Psalm 24:1). Malachi firstly is about the prophet Malachi is rebuking the bad priests, the Levites. The tithe payable by the Levites, and main subject is not the tithes payable by the people was the issue, the unpaid tithe here. Ironic that the tithe collection is still too often being abused too often today as well by the  Church  pastors.

.

Other Christian even a church secretary even, bragged to me that they were paid up in the annual tithe but admitted to me they also had not paid all of the taxes cause they had committed tax evasions, for after all their pastor now had did the same thing. (Luke 20:25 KJV) And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s. Just cause a person tithes, does not mean he is spiritual, more likely he is still even coming tax evasion, cheating, steal, abusing in my personal witness and experiences even in the churches now. And the promised restoration of the tabernacle of David mentioned in the book of Acts is not the restoration of tithing, Jerusalem as the center of Worship, any land of Israel now too, and it was, is not for sure a nationalistic Israel empire building..

.

Psalm 1:1  Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.  3  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.4  The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5  Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.6  For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

,

(Luke 14:26 KJV)  If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

,

(Luke 14:33 KJV)  So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

.

Matthew 6

1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly

.

Tithing – giving  10 percent of all of their incomes supposedly directly to God, but today  Tithing preaching is evil in many ways.. it is a false attempt to enslave us under a false obedience to the  false laws.. Old Testament laws that we are not obligated to follow as Christians.   ”Tithing was divinely instituted by God under the old covenant and was compulsory upon the people who worshiped God ( upon Jews only).

.

Tithing today also  is a  mechanism used by most Pastors to steal God’s money and for them use it where they want, not where God wants it to be used

.

It was interesting that Rev George Mueller was able to raise millions of dollars by donation, without once sharing and his the needs publicly too. He exercised  his faith in God, verb- Use or apply (a faculty, right, or process),  and prayed secretly for all his needs unlike the many false hirelings in the Ministry today who have their eyes on people and not God               http://postedat.wordpress.com/2009/05/28/rev-george-muller/

.

Now my God has already promised to   supply all your needs by Jesus Christ already so why do you want to even tithe  firstly? what are your real motives in doing so?

.

Mat 25:34 KJV)   Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35  For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36  Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37  Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38  When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39  Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40  And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. 41  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42  For I was an hungered, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43  I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44  Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45  Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment:

.

(James 2:1 KJV)  My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. 2  For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; 3  And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: 4  Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? 5  Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? 6  But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? 7  Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? 8  If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: 9  But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. 10  For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 11  For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

.

(1 John 2:10 KJV)  He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

.

(Gal 5:16 KJV)  This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh 17   For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

.

(1 John 2:16 KJV)  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17   And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. (Phil 4:11 KJV)  Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. 12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13   I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. 14  Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.

.

(1 Tim 6:9 KJV)  But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10  For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11   But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

(Deu 24:14 KJV)  Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy land within thy gates: 15 At his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto the LORD, and it be sin unto thee.

(Rom 13:9 KJV)  For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

.

(1 Tim 6:8 KJV)  And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

.

(Heb 13:5 KJV)  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

.

(Mat 6:19 KJV)  19  Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20  But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22  The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.  23  But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! 24  No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. 25  Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26  Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27  Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28  And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29  And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30  Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31  Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32  (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34  Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

.

(John 15:5 KJV)  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6  If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

What the Bible says about getting free of demons

 .
Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
 .
Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
 .
Mark 5: 15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. 16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
 .
Mark 7:26 The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. ..30 And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed
 .
Luke 9:42 And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.
.

The Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 6:11-13(LB) “Put on all of God’s armour so that you will be able to stand safe against all strategies and tricks of Satan. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against persons without bodies; the evil rulers of the unseen world; those mighty Satanic beings and great evil princes of darkness who rule this world, and against huge numbers of wicked spirits in the spirit-world. So use every piece of God’s armour to resist the enemy whenever he attacks, and when it is all over, you will still be standing up.”

 .

This next  is the basic understanding of where those demonic powers came from, how they can affect us today, and how we can be released from their influence.

.

(1) Where did these powers of darkness come from?

God’s original creation included spirit beings in descending order of rankings, including one with exceptional wisdom and abilities. In one of the two main prophetic references to that being (Ezekiel 28:12-14 NIV), we read “You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God;…… You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you.” That being was Lucifer, later to become known as Satan. Lucifer’s personal downfall began with inner corruption. Ezekiel 28:15-17(NIV) reads “You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created, till wickedness was found in you. Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you CORRUPTED your wisdom because of your splendour.” (The other major prophetic reference to Lucifer is in Isaiah 14:12-14).

.

In Revelation 12:4, it is generally accepted that Lucifer, in his seditious whisperings to other spirit beings that God had created, managed to lure approximately one-third of them over to his side, where they ended up on earth.

In Ephesians 6:12. The “mighty satanic beings” are the fallen angels who chose to follow Satan into rebellion. With specially assigned positions from their overlord Satan, they appear to pass on their orders and their particular brands of evil to the lower ranking fallen spirit beings mentioned in the latter part of Ephesians 6:12 who more directly attack Christians today.

.

(2) How can these powers of darkness affect us today?

1. Indwelling status in the believer’s life where this is possible. It should be noted that indwelling demons in the personality of a true believer are not constantly on the surface. They operate much like an enemy submarine – coming to the surface to cause as much destruction as possible when from their viewpoint it is an opportune time to do so, then disappearing below the surface to lie dormant for a period of time until a new opportunity arises to cause further destruction.

.

But how do they actually gain indwelling status? (A Christian does not pick up a demon by accidentally bumping into one as he or she goes down the street. Demons gain access by a number of clearly discernible routes.) * Major sins of ancestors especially with the last four generations. * Uncontrolled negative habit patterns. A person who, for example, has a habit of getting angry, will soon attract the attention of destructive spirits specialising in these areas. * Any type of occult activity. Even so-called ‘games’ such as ouija boards or dungeons and dragons, any form of fortune telling (including horoscopes) or any involvement at all in a host of other occult activities, plays right into the hands of the enemy.  * False cults, including the New Age movement, or any system of belief that does not hold to the basic doctrines of Scripture, especially concerning the full deity and humanity of Jesus Christ.
* Deeply distressing and traumatic events. * Frequently spoken negative words. * Self imposed curses. * Direct perverted physical contact, especially through improper sexual relationships. * Inappropriate laying-on of hands.

.

2. External harassment where indwelling status cannot be gained. Such demonic attacks can occur at random, for Satan constantly and continually opposes God’s plans and his people. However some externally operating spirits may have a legal right to attack if a believer becomes involved in active persistent sin, or is affected by a curse, or is spiritually wounded in such a way as to attract demonic attention. Getting rid of external tormentors is a simple matter, for they have no foothold within the believer’s life, but are simply acting from the outside.

.

(3) How can we be released from demonic influences?

.

1. Those that have gained indwelling status. We can get rid of many indwelling spirits of darkness by ourselves. Luke 10:19 reminds us that Jesus has given us authority. We need to ensure that we renounce and cut off any legal reasons that such spirits may have to reside within. This process may mean that we need to repent where sins have been committed by us, or forgive where wrong attitudes are still held against someone else. We must treat God’s Word seriously, and refusal to repent or forgive will without doubt keep us in chains. However, if we have been involved in sinful practices such as witchcraft, we will have attracted quite powerful demons, and it would be wise for us to seek the assistance of those who are genuinely anointed by the Lord for the ministry of deliverance. Here is a suggested prayer for self-deliverance. “In the name and authority of the Lord Jesus Christ I command you ….. (name the demonic spirits)….. to leave me immediately. I renounce and revoke your right to operate in my life. In Jesus name, go now.” Joel 2:32 It should be mentioned here that while it is best to accurately identify the names of any indwelling spirits, it is not always essential to do so. Many times it is adequate to simply identify the type of work done by a spirit. (e.g., ‘the spirit that caused me to fly into a rage just now’, or ‘the spirit that is putting lustful thoughts into my mind at the moment’.)

.

2. Those that harass us from outside. The process of casting away these attackers is virtually the same as for those who gain indwelling status. These spirits generally have no firm grip upon us, or they would have already gained indwelling status, a much greater achievement for them. Be alert, however, to the possibility that they may be linked to internal spirits, so in getting rid of them try not to miss anything hiding inside. The sort of prayer to use for externally harassing spirits can be the same as that for indwelling demons.

.
The most important thing is to have an attitude that recognises the seriousness of demonic presence. All demons are committed to our destruction, and will use every trick in the book to remain undetected. God is faithful, however, and sooner or later he will expose all darkness to us PROVIDED we are willing to do something about it when made aware.

.

(4) The place of ‘Binding’ in pre-deliverance ministry.

.

Matthew 18:18(NIV) “I tell you the truth; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in Heaven…” Luke 11:21-22(NIV) “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe; but when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armour in which the man trusted and divides up the spoils.”
.

Binding simply means to leave a demon where it is, but to shut down its ability to operate for a specified period of time. Binding may have a very real part in our spiritual armoury. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 10:4 – “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” However, binding is not in itself ‘deliverance’, and there are some important things we need to understand if it is to be a truly effective part of that armory.
.

1. There needs to be understanding of the enemy’s character. Demons are incredibly sly, and should be treated as such. Therefore we need to be very specific in binding them in the authority the Lord has given us. They will be most elusive where conditions are undefined – e.g. “I bind you in Jesus’ name” without any specific conditions to that binding will give easy escape routes for them. They will be trapped where conditions are very exact – e.g. “I bind you totally from any activity at all in this person’s life up to 10.00 p.m. exactly, 1 calendar month from now. During this time you will remain totally still and totally silent. I bring you this command in the full authority of the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will do exactly as you have been ordered.”

.

2. There needs to be accurate Biblical basis for any orders given. It is quite wrong to pray ‘Lord, will you bind these spirits please for such and such a period of time’? In Luke 10:19(NIV) we read the words of Jesus “I have given YOU authority to trample on snakes and scorpions.” There is no use asking God to do what he has already asked us to do.  It is quite wrong to bind or pray without good reason. We must not be flippant in these matters. Matthew 12:36 warns us that even our careless words will have to be accounted for on judgement day. We shouldn’t enter into conflict with the enemy unless the one being prayed for is serious about wanting help.

.

3. There needs to be a definite purpose for imposing a binding. Example: A person may be literally unable to receive and hold on to truth, or receive pure love, or get emotions under control because of demonic interference. It is a common tactic of the enemy to attack with families of truth blocking, love blocking or emotion blocking spirits. Such spirits may need to be bound for a season of time.

.
Example: Families of Suicide/Death spirits may need to be bound to give respite from deeply distressing torment.

.

4. There needs to be prompt follow up where this is possible. Binding of the enemy should never be regarded as a substitute for deliverance, but properly understood, may well prepare the way for the permanent release of the person who has come for ministry. Long-term binding is undesirable.

.

If demons are allowed to continue unchallenged in the life of a believer, it will be quite impossible for that person to enter into the full freedom and joy that the Lord intends. It is our responsibility, therefore, to understand and apply the authority given us by the Lord, firstly in our own lives, and then, as he directs, also in the lives of others.

.

Deliverance, however, must never be substituted for dealing with the old sinful nature, for we cannot ‘cast out’ the flesh. Deliverance without repentance or forgiveness is futile and dangerous.
.

Maintaining our Freedom

.

Here are some appropriate steps towards our spiritual freedom once we have been delivered of demonic squatters. It is important to work at keeping ourselves free as we find a sober warning in Matthew 12:43-45 of the results of failure to do so.

.

These following seven points are reproduced from the book ‘How to be set free from Freemasonry’, with the kind permission of it’s author, Joan Edmondson.

* Say “NO” to the old habits and fleshly ways and say “Yes” to the ways of God. Romans 8:14.

* Read your Bible regularly, studying the Word of God, meditating on the Scripture God quickens to you. 2 Timothy 2:15, James 1:22.

* Spend your time in prayer each day. Worship and listen as well as talking. Luke 18:1, Ephesians 6:18. Develop this time so that you look forward to it and enjoy a close relationship with your Heavenly Father.
* Develop right relationships. Would you be pleased to have Jesus with you listening to what you are saying, seeing what you are doing? Ephesians 5:18-21.
* Recognise your authority. All authority is ours as believers through the death of Jesus Christ at Calvary. Matthew 28:18-20, Ephesians 1:19-23, Ephesians 2:6. “Thanks be to God who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ.”2 Corinthians 2:14.

* Don’t be passive. James 4:7“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” When the enemy tries to oppress you, don’t allow him back. Resist him in JESUS’ NAME, using Scripture, using the protection of the blood of Jesus. And he will flee!
* Keep Jesus Christ as the central focus of your life, and allow the faith of God to arise. “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word of Christ.”
Romans 10:17.
