Stephen Harper’s ill advised Alberta attitude

Harper’s Alberta attitude Homegrown contempt for opposition bugs rest of Canada. Published January 1, 2009 by Gillian Steward in Viewpoint As Stephen Harper stoked the opposition parties into a flaming fury in early December, I wondered if he had forgotten that he was in Ottawa, not Alberta. In Alberta, the provincial Conservatives treat elected opposition MLAs with the same kind of contempt. Of course, in Alberta they can get away with it, because they have successfully engineered majority governments for 37 years, and counting. The Tories here don’t need to worry about the Liberals and the NDs banding together and bouncing them back to the opposition benches. After all, the combined opposition holds only 11 out of 83 seats. Most Albertans seem to like the Conservatives, so they keep voting for them. However, Albertans who elect Liberals or NDs are no less committed to the well-being of their fellow citizens. You wouldn’t think the same of Conservative MLAs, given way they treat opposition members or anyone who takes them to task. Like Harper, former premier Ralph Klein was not content to best opposition forces during elections, which he did several times; he wanted to crush them. During the Klein, regime opposition MLAs were often treated as though they had no right to be in the legislature. He banned them from policy committees. He denied them the use of publicly funded government facilities. He freely insulted them, and he frequently forced closure of debate on important issues such as electricity deregulation and privatization of health care. Klein and his henchman Rod Love quickly labelled people “communists” if they gave them grief. They weren’t afraid to verbally slap around mayors, city councils, university presidents, school boards and, of course, the media. In Ralph’s World, power was the name of the game; democratic process was a nuisance. And let’s not forget Ed Stelmach was in cabinet for all of this. You may be wondering; if the situation was so bad, why didn’t the people of Alberta rise up in protest and vote the louts out? Perhaps it’s the Stéphane Dion syndrome: they didn’t much like the goons in power, but they didn’t much like the alternatives either. Let’s take the Liberals. The usual slap against them is that they are Liberals, that they are the same party that foisted former prime minister Pierre Trudeau’s much-hated National Energy Program on Alberta. Liberals are always quick to deny this. During provincial election campaigns, they go to great pains to explain to voters that they are Alberta Liberals, not the dastardly federal Liberals who sucked so much money out of the province. Then as soon as the writ is dropped for a federal election, the same Alberta Liberals turn around and work for federal Liberal candidates. Some of them even stand as federal Liberals candidates. Why do they think they can have it both ways? And why do they think that Albertans don’t notice the hypocrisy? As for the New Democrats, it’s hard to believe that they can ever move beyond their Edmonton fortress and the cozy support provided by public service unions. Most candidates in Calgary are recruited simply so the ND option is on the ballot, and voter support can be totalled up provincewide as evidence of popular support. Even so, the NDs garnered only 8.5 per cent of the popular vote in the last election. As well, stories abound about ND leader Brian Mason’s dictatorial ways. You know the NDs are at the end of the road when the president of the Alberta Federation of Labour publicly calls for a coalition of the NDs, Liberals and Greens, as Gil McGowan did last spring. The Alberta Conservatives have grown arrogant and lazy simply because they have been in power for so long. The opposition parties are becoming more and more irrelevant. Voter turnout in Alberta is embarrassingly low. The time seems ripe for a new party with a leader who can inspire people to work together on all the challenges that confront us. In the meantime, the Conservative government can pretty much do as it wants. It has a solid majority, and there won’t be another election for three years. Who knows, the opposition parties might be in even worse shape than they are now? That’s the way it is in Alberta. However, Harper would do well to remember that other parts of Canada don’t have the same hidebound traditions when it comes to politics. Ontario certainly doesn’t. Voters there hold governments much more accountable. As do voters in Quebec. For that matter, voters in the other western provinces regularly turf out governments if they are seen to be beyond their stale date. Not in Alberta. We prefer to keep the mouldy bread rather than bake a fresh loaf. Perhaps Harper has been enmeshed in politics Alberta-style for too long to realize it doesn’t translate well in the rest of Canada. He actually needs to work with the opposition or his minority government will not survive. In spite of a growing, deepening Albertan recession the most recent growth makes Calgary , 1/3 the size of Montreal, is the third-largest municipality in Canada ? Now according to the latest statistics Toronto (2,631,725 people in 2007) and Montreal (1,620,693 in 2006) had more people. Ottawa (898,150 in 2008) and Edmonton (782,439 in 2009) rounded out the top five. However, if one uses census estimates from 2008 for metropolitan areas — which rightfully do include the immediate surrounding suburbs — then the Calgary Region falls to fifth, behind Toronto (5,531,263), Montreal (3,750,540), Vancouver (2,271,224) and Ottawa (1,198,668). Calgary (1,182,446) is unique for having the vast majority of its population live in the actual municipality, and not in surrounding suburbs. It has no suburbs because it is a mostly new city basically. That is why it is also costly as the roads, sewers, are mostly new too. Calgary only has 60,000 more residents than Edmonton (1,124,163) and it makes a lot of false noise in that fact too cause it wants to attract much needed capital investors for non existing industrial, commercial aspects.. There basically are only 2 large cities in Alberta, Calgary and Alberta, and a handfull of samller towns.. There is not much industrial, Munufacturing business in Alberta due to the shortage of labor and skilled persons, and high operating costs. People in Calgary and Alberta do often dream of becoming rich , but it is a far away dream when you consider the high costs of living there and the uncertainty of holding onto a job too.

Canada’s top news makers for the year 2008.

– The COALITION,The three-headed political monster that nearly swallowed Stephen Harper’s minority government has been chosen as the top Canadian news story of 2008 by the country’s newspapers editors and broadcasters. The stunning opposition bid to cobble together an unwieldy coalition government to replace the Conservatives was the No. 1 choice in the annual year-end survey of newspaper and broadcast newsrooms conducted by The Canadian Press. Not even the stock market meltdown, which ran a close second, could beat the coalition gambit for sheer drama or for provoking a stronger – and mostly irate – response from average Canadians, survey respondents concluded.

– Amazing Canada’s news editors selected Bad Conservative Stephen Harper as the news maker of the year.. including his failure to make a majority government again. “Stephen Harper. What a difference a few weeks make in the political world. Remember when Prime Minister Stephen Harper badly miscalculated Parliament, and plunged the country into a political crisis of his making. Even the Globe and Mail was calling for his resignation as Conservative leader, such was the over-reach and arrogance of the Sweatered One late in 2008. Steve’s Grinch-like uber-partisan heart was laid bare with his ham-fisted attempt to bankrupt democracy by cutting federal subsidies to political parties. And Harper’s ugly ideological core was exposed with his stimulus-less economic update. We must also mention Harper’s blatant demagogic misrepresentation of the functioning of Canada’s parliamentary democracy. This was beyond naughty. It was inexcusable ” and“The Governor General (and, by extension, Queen Elizabeth). Prorogation was her prerogative, and we don’t even get to know her rationale for giving the Harper government a stay-of-execution in face of a coalition ready to pull the plug. The Harper seven-day war. Just 44 days after pledging peace and parliamentary order, Prime Minister Stephen Harper inserted a paragraph into the fiscal update to cancel $30-million worth of public funding for political parties. It was allegedly a cost-savings gesture, but clearly intended to whack less-solvent opposition parties the hardest. Not surprisingly, it unleashed the political firestorm of this century. In less than a week, a coalition of all three opposition parties formed and forced the government to retreat on the party financing cut. When that failed to pacify the trio, Harper delayed a confidence vote and ultimately prorogued Parliament after just 13 sitting days to avoid the government-toppling coronation of Prime Minister Stephane Dion. After Parliament was unplugged and the coalition lost momentum, Liberals shunted aside Dion for new leader Michael Ignatieff and all sides now brace for the return of the re-poisoned Commons atmosphere in late January. Another election lurks on the horizon. The buying opportunity: With the market in meltdown mode and seniors nervously eyeing their cracking nest-eggs, a campaigning Harper declared it a stock-buying opportunity. Never mind that it was a slap to anyone losing their shirts without the financial means to buy back in, it was lousy advice. Anyone who’d followed his suggestion would’ve lost roughly 20 per cent of their investment. Fiscal update: Whatever could’ve possessed Finance Minister Jim Flaherty to add the trickery of cancelled party financing to the rows of imaginary surplus projections in an economic stimulus package and still expect the opposition parties to roll over and endorse his scheme remains the headscratcher of the year. He almost toppled his own government with that recklessly irresponsible, bogus document. No deficit, no recession, no bailouts: So said Stephen Harper repeatedly and defiantly during the fall election campaign. We are now a month away from unveiling a huge deficit to fight a possible depression topped by aid packages for auto, forestry and mining sectors. Oops. – The senate. Senate choices are revolting, Harper handing Liberals more ammunition by his patronage appointment of senators. There are those like me who think the Upper House is nothing more than a high-priced retirement home for political hacks. it will cost hard-pressed Canadian taxpayers a fortune. Each senator makes $134,000 a year, or far, far more than the average person who toils at a real job. But wait that is just the begining, add on their paid overseas trips, expense accounts, etc. This was more about saving his government supporters than anything else. Harper would have had a lot more credibility if he’d left the positions open and kept pushing for reform.

let us call the Senate what it is: a reward for the party faithful; an occasional arbiter of legislative common sense; and a supreme seat of patronage that looks like a violation of democratic principle to most Canadians, and like its epitome to those who rest their backsides in its cushy red chairs. In 2004, when Scott Brison left the Tories to join the Liberals, Mr. Harper said: “Leaving a party and defecting to the other side for 30 pieces of silver is part of corruption.” Then, on the day after Mr. Harper won an election campaign on ethics, he was the one handing out the silver. There is a striking hypocrisy in this, and in many of Mr. Harper’s subsequent actions — where he behaves the same as the cynical Liberals he once compared to Judas Iscariot. It continued this week, when Mr. Harper appointed 18 senators, something he had promised not to do, all the while denouncing the Liberals for blocking his efforts at Senate reform. Mr. Harper, an old Reformer, swore he would be different from his Liberal and Progressive Conservative predecessors. But when faced with the same temptation, he behaved in exactly the same way as prime ministers always have — he appointed old bagmen and political organizers who had been helpful to him in leadership races and election campaigns, along with a few high-profile Canadians as a fig leaf.

Also now, He promised to establish a Public Appointments Commission to review all political appointees, then reneged when the opposition sniffed at the man he selected to head it, and has continued to make partisan appointments without scrutiny. What makes Mr. Harper different from other hypocritical politicians is not his reversals but the withering brutality of his attacks on his opponents, reinforced by a legion of talented spin doctors and advertising experts. It suggests either a psychological inability to recognize that his actions are morally equivalent to those he attacks — or, more likely, a willingness to be as mean as is useful. That meanness, though, has recently backfired on Mr. Harper, twice, at some cost.First, in the recent election campaign, his harsh comments about culture cuts cost him the Quebec seats he needed to win a majority. Then, in the fall fiscal update, his attacks on the opposition’s funding almost cost him power, necessitating another round of hypocritical attacks that boosted his support in the West and burnt his bridges in Quebec. If Quebecers have permanently soured on Mr. Harper — which would put a majority out of reach — Mr. Harper’s appeal would fade in the rest of the country. – Quebec singer-songwriter Michel Rivard’s YouTube video sensation, which mocked Conservative arts funding cuts, likely turned enough tide to prevent the Harper majority from emerging out of Quebec seat gains. It’s deadliest satirical shot featured stiff Anglo bureaucrats auditioning the francophone singer and mistaking his use of “phoque,” or baby seal, as a dirty word. As a hilarious attack ad, it had far greater vote-shifting effects than all the Bloc Quebecois and Liberal advertising combined. Arts funding cut: Hopes for a Conservative majority were built on winning Quebec ridings. – The troubled relationship between Couillard and Maxime Bernier got many people’s attention now too, the Couillard-Bernier scandal

The tempest in a D-Cup. They had allegedly split as lovers, yet Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Bernier jumped off the plane after a NATO conference on Afghanistan, dashed over to glamorous Julie Couillard’s townhouse for a sleepover and promptly forgot a stack of secret documents in the former biker chick’s living room. The woman scorned got even by disclosing his left-behind documents to media. That little oversight cost Bernier his ministerial job, prompted an internal inquiry, landed Couillard a tell-all book contract and ended with her infamous cleavage-exposing dress being put up for charity auction. You couldn’t make this up either.

About face of the year Ian Brodie. Not only did Harper’s former chief of staff leak damaging information to reporters on the U. S. presidential race, revealing that all their bad-mouthing of NAFTA was meaningless candidate posturing, he hasn’t embraced the spirit of Conservativeimposed rules prohibiting former political appointments from lobbying the government. When he “retired” last spring, Brodie swore an “undertaking” he would not lobby his former boss or the cabinet underlings. First stop in the private sector? Remember how it seemed that Harper didn’t care that he was leading a minority government, next a single, monstrous, Harper’s miscalculation caused a chain reaction that, brought Canada’s economy tumbling down further and Stephen Harper to his knees and he is now cowling in fear.. for the support a coalition government for Canada is growing and why?. It’s clear that Prime Minister Stephen Harper isn’t serious about helping families and . Harper said he’d make Parliament work better this time. He said he’d do something substantial for the economy. Harper the big liar who still cannot be trusted too. It seems that it would only be fair if the mostly useless MPs still can shut down Parliament for 50-plus days, that we, the Canadian taxpayers, should be able to rightfully shut down their paycheques for the same period.

– Proposed social welfare to big three automotive Car makers -General Motors, Chrysler with all the spins..- Canada’s federal government and three provinces have agreed to provide C$4.45 billion ($3.65 billion) in backstops to support a plan to restructure C$32 billion in asset-backed commercial paper that has been frozen for more than a year. The margin facilities provided by Ottawa and the provinces of Quebec, Ontario and Alberta bring the total guarantees for the restructuring to $17.82 billion, the investor committee that organized the plan said in a statement on Wednesday.

– On top of that Canada’s Bell, BCE made major headlines twice even with their internet download capping, restrictions admissions and also with the Ontario teacher’s failure of the BCE takeover, and related drops in Bell share prices this year too. Canada had its own listeriosis outbreak involving processed meats, Maple Leaf Foods recall – Shit disease continues to kill people in Canada’s Hospitals. The outbreak of listeriosis killed 20 Canadians last year. It is in ours and in the GOVERNMENTS interests, after all, to ensure that no similar tragedies occur under ALL of their watch. . On Sept. 3, 2008, Prime Minister Stephen Harper had announced that there would be “an arm’s-length investigation to make sure we get to the bottom, on the government side, on the bureaucratic side, of exactly what transpired” in the fatal outbreak of bacteria in Maple Leaf Foods luncheon meats, “and to make sure as we go forward and we make changes to our system that this kind of thing can’t happen again.” Specifically on Sept. 6, the day before the election was called, Mr. Harper announced the terms of reference – including a reporting deadline of March 15, 2009. That deadline may have been a little ambitious, since an investigation of complex regulations and their enforcement could take longer than a few months. But yet now the same federal government does not appear to be making an effort to meet it – or to treat the matter with any degree of urgency. Even Four months later, and nearly two-thirds of the way through its self-imposed time-frame, it is now still being reported that the government has not yet even named a lead investigator. At this rate, it unlikely that the investigation will even be completed this year. Stephen Harper’s government’s apparent failure to launch an investigation it promised early last fall raises the unsettling thought that its pledge was made largely to prevent the issue from jeopardizing its prospects in the election campaign. There is no plausible justification for this delay. Parliament need not be sitting for the government to appoint investigators; it requires no legislation. If Mr. Harper was comfortable appointing 18 senators while Parliament is prorogued, he should have no qualms about naming someone to help protect. With the exception of the controversy surrounding some ill-advised jokes made by Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz, the listeriosis outbreak played little role in the fall campaign. Canadians did not have much reason to believe the Conservatives bore responsibility for it, and were led to believe the government took the matter seriously. ALL Canadians should now feel differently knowing that the issue would not be attended to promptly once the federal lection campaign was over. Once again Stephen Harper THE PRETENDER does not keep his promises.

– In addition it was clear that the bad RCMP again this year made major headlines with their use of Tasers and their murder of a polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski in Vancouver, BC, plus the alcoholic RCMP cops – Alcoholism, Cops included – Speed traps ..“ Rest in Peace, Robert Dziekanski. How long will we tolerate the cops investigating themselves? How many more families will be denied fair and impartial justice? “

I find it really unbelievable that the Number one story in Canada based now on the number of Computer users complaints, hundreds of thousands, on the net too, and the related readers of Canada Bell’s capping is not mentioned at all by the news media.. is this a false corporate cover-up? or fear of reprisals from Bell? or no one really cares about the consumers? and what the bad RCMP did also not get a mention, spot. No wonder too many people prefer to get their news on the net.

– The 2007/2008 long cold winter with plenty of snow was another top sellerseems to want to repat itself.. Note this important brief introduction to road safety and the police .. Yes you always do have to drive safely, in control, not impaired as well and yes there are many, many different factors that now can cause a vehicular, automotive accident, including but not limited to the actual daily road conditions, even the type of tires you have .. for it is a fact that good tires lead to a safer drive, and so does a 4 wheel drive. Next when you start to first drive at any day do first immediately test the road condition by coming to a planned sudden stop , and see firsthand how your car reacts accordingly.. then next do use this experience to set how you will drive the rest of the day too. And no matter what car, or tires you have, or who is the driver, if you do hit a patch of black ice, due clearly to the failure of others, such as the Governments, municipalities, to apply salt and gravel on the icy / snowy road, to falsely try to save money here, it can be very, very hazardous now too. Give them a fine, ticket, they firstly do deserve it too. Now hypothetical if you do not drive at all you are less likely to have an accident, assuming another driver does not hit you while walking..

Stories of the year. Yup, it’s been one crazy, mixed-up 2008. The link between government economic policies and the ever-increasing financial woes of millions of Canadians. Brace yourself for 2009?

ESSENTIAL LESSON: Humility, one would hope. All the mainstream parties lost goodwill in English Canada. The Liberals and the Tories lost the most. They just are not connecting with what real people care about. The pre-Christmas power play was particularly disastrous. Unfortunately, because both Stephen Harper and Michael Ignatieff came out ahead politically, the lesson was likely lost.

Governor Sarah Palin did more to revitalize the Republican Party this election year than any other person, including the Party’s presidential nominee. If it had not been for Palin, this election would have been an even bigger disaster. – A voter

To say that Gov. Palin wasn’t a figure on the national scene prior to her selection as Sen. John McCain’s running mate would be fair. While there were those in the conservative movement who had been talking her up for some time, the majority of Americans outside of Alaska likely had little idea who the hockey mom turned vice presidential candidate was. Thanks to the mainstream media, they probably still don’t.

Gov. Palin was ridiculed by the press but we have a feeling that laughter masked a very deep fear. Few people have exploded onto the national scene as she did to the rapturous joy of a political party. With one stroke Sen. McCain revitalized his campaign, albeit temporarily, and re-earned the support of his base. Gov. Palin became an instant media star, drawing crowds just as large as Barack Obama’s. And unlike Obama and his running mate, Sen. Joseph Biden, she could claim administrative and legislative experience. In fact, a lot more than either of them.

No single political figure in recent history has galvanized the conservative movement in America the way Governor Palin has. She is a plain speaking fresh face, with a track record of living by her word. – A voter

And that’s probably what the media and the Democrats were so afraid of. After a team of lawyers and investigators sent to Juneau and Wasilla could turn up no scandals, the left resorted to their classic tactic to smear Republicans: intelligence. With the exception of Richard Nixon and George H.W. Bush, virtually every presidential and vice presidential candidate in recent memory has been described as ignorant or moronic. With Gov. Palin, they took it to new heights. Even comments made by comedians like Tina Fey were attributed to her. By the time November 4 rolled around, the average American likely thought Gov. Palin couldn’t tie her own shoe laces.

And yet they’re still in fear of her. They continue to attack her despite the fact that she’s returned back to her job as a popular governor of a state most people don’t take notice of. They continue to smear her every chance possible because they know that two things haven’t changed since she was nominated: The Republican Party remains in love with her and the American people still think she has something to offer. They feel it on an instinctual level because they know that Gov. Sarah Palin is one of them. Not a New York media hound, Washington, D.C. elite or Georgetown dinner party regular, but someone who goes to work every day, is family centered and has faith in both God and her country.

Anyone who can make the political left’s head explode as she did, is doing something right. – A voter

John McCain lost the presidential election last year but we can say with certainty that Sarah Palin won the soul of the conservative movement and the Republican Party. We don’t know what her plans for 2012 or 2016 are but we do hope that Alaska’s bet asset doesn’t decide to stay in Juneau for good. Conservatives, and the United States, need her too much.“

AND THEN WHAT THE LYING POLICE BLAME THE CITIZENS FOR DRIVING TOO FAST IN POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS, WHEN IT IS THE FAULT OF THE PROVINCIAL, MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENTS FOR NOT KEEPING THE ROADS ADEQUATELY CLEANED, SALTED, GRAVEL?

Polls is still like adding in arithmetic, just leave out some numbers and you get a wrong answer. As simple as that,

Being classified as an evangelical is not dependent upon church attendance or the denominational affiliation of the church attended supposedly..” Charismatics and Pentecostals are part of this group even if some falsely do not want to accept them. Catholics and Mormons, Jehovah witnesses are not a part of this grouping.

“Notional Christians “are those who consider themselves to be Christian but do not meet the not born again criteria such as Catholics, Mormons, Jehovah witnesses they really are not Christians, mere pretenders, imposters, foolish virgins according to the evangelicals.

A poll a sample of only one thousand supposedly born again Christians is meaningless as it already has a built in error of 70 percent.

Last night a CNN reporter asked that question of Palin’s former pastor. The media is on the hunt and they smell a kill. Didn’t Obama’s pastor seriously damage his cause? Won’t Palin’s Pentecostalism hurt her? So why does Barack Obama still seem to be in a stupor over John McCain’s pick for Vice President? And what is the source of John McCain’s cocky smile? Because Obama and McCain are politicians and not just your average politicians, they are among the best. The American people are getting their money’s worth in this contest. And as politicians, they know the numbers, the numbers that the media in their supreme arrogance over anything religious, always seems to disbelieve. John McCain .. why he is still in a race that the Democrats should have already won. And it is why Obama is looking stunned. According to Barna, 36% of the American public are charismatic or Pentecostal Christians. We are talking about huge numbers, probably 80 million adults.   Consider that 24% of the American public are Catholic. 13% are African American… to be counted in this 36% you had to say that you had been “filled with the Holy Spirit” and that you believe that “the charismatic gifts, gifts such as tongues and healing, are still valid and active today.” So the 36% Penteocstal-Charismatics are hot. They are adult and active.   Now, here’s where it gets even more ironic. It turns out that 33% of all Catholics are charismatic.. Most of the 33% are adults, and active.

Some in the media are falling all over themselves to show that Palin is out of step with the nation, that she is a fanatic or, at least, her church is fanatical…What percentage of Americans would agree with “God Damn America” as opposed to “the charismatic gifts, gifts such as tongues and healing, are still valid and active today”? Obama was specifically attempting to peel off the Pentecostal-Charismatics from the rest of the evangelical herd. Democrats had several meetings set up with Pentecostal leaders. McCain had misstepped with endorsements from John Hagee and Rod Parsley, both Pentecostals. Republican, Chuck Grassley, a Baptist, had awakened the Baptist – Pentecostal doctrinal rift by specifically targeting Pentecostal ministries in an “investigation” but exempting any Baptists. If the Baptist-Pentecostal fracture had endured, it would have rent the last remaining base of the beleaguered presidency of George W. Bush and the melting iceberg from which the McCain team had to launch their campaign.   Now, with one decision, a VP pick, John McCain has turned it all on a dime.

The media rushes greedily on, thinking they have something of interest that will break McCain. But Obama and McCain know the truth. The more the media confidently ridicules and attacks the Pentecostal-Charismatics, the more they unite what had been a fractured Republican base and drive this massive constituency into the Republican fold. In their ignorance, or innocence, the media will use a shotgun approach, (now here’s where their failure to do any homework on religion really hurts them) and they will end up hitting all evangelicals, not just Pentecostals. When they attack the idea of healing for example, they make Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists and even many New Agers nervous. Oh, yeah, there is that 33% of Catholics who will wince when media pundits laugh at Palin’s doctrines. And when they ridicule the born again experience they blow out Baptists and fundamentalist Lutherans.

Thus the media will do the work that a clumsy, liberal Democrat nominee usually did in the past. In forty years, only two Democratic nominees have won, Carter and Clinton, and both hailed from the South and understood and appealed to evangelicals.   (42% of all Americans claim to be born again Christians, which includes the Pentecostals and Charismatics.) Barack Obama had this all figured out. He needed the Pentecostals to balance his liberal voting record in the Senate, to make him something more than a Dukakis or Kerry. Indeed, the head of his religious outreach is a young Assemblies of God political operator. (Maybe the media will ask him if he has ever spoken in tongues?)

Sarah Palin is not qualified to be vice president because she was raised in such a church and exposed to such doctrines? Maybe Pentecostals and Charismatics should not able allowed to operate heavy machinery or be doctors or lawyers. Maybe 36% of the American public should be exempted from public life.

Obama can only pine as he watches all of his brilliant, nuanced work slip away. It will take the most informed in the media a few days to figure this out and add a measure of balance to their reporting, to at least offer Pentecostals as much respect as they do Muslims fundamentalists but some won’t ever know what they have done. Mahatma Gandhi, once said, “He who says that religion and politics don’t mix, understands neither one.”

Note this firstly that the term Evangelical or Dispensationalists are words never found in the Bible.. anointed is the word rather that should be placed here..

Yes many Jews today are struggling for all of the Land of Israel that no longer has been Biblically Promised to them.. Time also more Christians read their Bible instead of the fictional books, bad commentaries now too.

Very clearly and simply too there is not one verse in the New Testament that states now even after the Roman destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem, and their scattering of the Nation of Israel worldwide, of a promise of the Jews restoration of the land of Israel, or even the city of Jerusalem being freed, and Jerusalem itself will only will be free after the Second Coming, the return of Jesus Christ for his bride, the Church, the true Christians.

The sole one verse that is falsely often referred too Luke 21:24 as a supposed proof of the restoration of the Jews, Israel clearly still has nothing to do with the restoration of Israel. Do now Read the Bible for yourself now in the actual context, even in the context of the the future New Heaven and New Earth, New Jerusalem solely forthcoming to all of the true Christian believers now as well

Luke 21:20 But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know {and} understand that its desolation has come near. In other words, they are part of the terrible movement to Judaise Christianity; part of the deception that has it that Western Christian Civilisation has a “Judaeo-Christian Heritage” and that Christendom was, in fact, Judaeo-Christianity. A position most of the early Church Fathers and all of the Apostles would contest just as surely Christ Himself would contest. What is the message of the Christian Zionist? They could not prove him guilty before Pilate of any offense against Rome….The most reasonable interpretation of the work of Scofield is that it is neither honest nor valid. As such, it should have the whistle blown, for it is properly outside the line of valid Christianity. The Scofield Reference Bible did, and is doing, a great disservice to the Kingdom of God. And as for this second biggest proponnent of the false rapture… C.I. Scofield deserted his first wife, Leontine Carr Scofield, and his two young daughters, Abigale and Helene. The stern reality of the 1880’s was that an abandoned woman had neither welfare nor access to a well paying job. This is just our first insight into the pitiless heart of C.I. Scofield. At this time, Scofield was making overtures to two other women-an unnamed young woman from the St. Louis Flower Mission, and Hettie Van Wark whom he later married. Leontine, a devout Catholic, obtained a divorce on December 8, 1883 in Scofield’s hometown of Atcheson, Kansas. From her meager earnings as a librarian she properly educated her two daughters. I still too often do read on the net the much too many false justifications of bashing, bullying specific supposedly bad preachers still and too often using an approach that clearly violates the teaching of Jesus Christ Himself..

I do not oppose the right of do anyone’s free speech, their right to be heard as well, the right to object, rebuke now too.. but still it must always still be done in love.. not in self glorifications, not in the bashings, bulling manners.

Comparative religion’s values

While there are some common, rare similarity amongst some of the major religions in this world, The aspect of polygamy, the rigths of divorce is clearly one that contrasts them all.. for a True Christian divorce is not permitted at all.. even if many Christians falsely practice it.

Too Many persons do practice their own version of Christianity, and Islam it seems thus, based on what others have said it says too..

It is true that there are many Muslims, men as well as women, who fully do not live up to the teachings of Islam,and the other religions now just as there are too many Christian men and women who do not live up to the teachings of Jesus, the Apostles, the Bible undeniably.

Muslims women themselves now often complain to news editors how they are abused by Muslim men. Muslim Relgion and do not have equal rights to the men, for example the right to go to school in many Muslim countries now too.. Muslims have equal rights to the other citizens in the English speaking countries.. In fact non Muslims do not have the same rights as Muslims in many Muslim countries now too and all of these facts are undeniable, and undisputable.

You must always still judge any person now by what they say, but by what they do. Bad people do bad things, no matter what their religion is now too.

Also real Reform from within Muslim societies is still even needed, first by even education, knowing that over half of Muslims today, are illiterate, only 15 percent do even know Arabic, which is the language of the Qur’an, the holy book of Islam.

Note: Sikhism now also like Mormons, Hindus, Jehovah Witnesses, Islam , Buddhism, and many others too are a cult, sect that bears no genuine relationship to Christianity too. It does not follow the Christian Bible too.

One cannot help but notice how so many of these religions differ but now they still do claim to be originated with God. A true God is certainly not so confused that he has started all these various, different and false religions.

Afghani journalism student Parwiz Kambakhsh has been sentenced to death for blaspheming because he not only downloaded articles regarding woman’s right’s under Islam, but also exposing the brutality against women and children by the local warlords in his community. He is being sentenced to death for “disseminating defamatory comments about Islam.”Say it isn’t soooo? Sounds like another mo-ham-med teddy bear moment to me! A three judge panel decided that his articles were blasphemous and sentenced him to die. That’s Shari’ah Law for you. The issue for this writer is the Islamic concept of blasphemy

For any religion to survive in the modern world, it needs to adapt to its reality, especially when it comes to equality between men and women concerning religious practices. As men and women should worship God in the same way, women should also have the same rights as women in assuming religious responsibilities.
Some persons try to say that Islam has freed them, but did your brothers, father, government free you yet too? or are they still killng, murdering you ?

Seven reasons why I believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the basis of Christianity. The Apostle Paul stated that if Christ had not been raised from the dead, than all preaching and all teaching of God’s Word would be useless and so would the Christian faith. For this reason, I would like to review seven reasons why I fully believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.1. The historical reality of Jesus Christ is true.
The historicity of Jesus Christ is airtight. We have over 5,000 first century documents pointing to Jesus. The secular Roman historian Josephus mentions Jesus in his first century writings. There is archaeological confirmation, especially in the last 30 years, that verify the historical figures mentioned in the New Testament.

2. The character of Jesus Christ is unquestioned.
Jesus questions the authorities by asking, “Can any of you prove me guilty of sin?” (John 8:46) None of them could prove him guilty – even after painstakingly questioning and investigating him.

3. The works of Jesus Christ went unchallenged.
The works of Christ, especially his miracles, were never disputed by his foes. The religious authorities acknowledged the miracles of Jesus and even made claims that Jesus powers came from the devil.

4. The identity of Jesus was confirmed.
Jesus claimed who he was by saying, “I am the way and the truth and the life.” (John 14:6) God, the Father proclaimed, “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!” (Mark 9:7) The Apostle Peter said, “You are the Christ”. Even the authorities knew of Jesus’ claim to be God. Granted, these all came from the Bible. However, the most compelling proof is that Jesus the Messiah fulfilled over 700 prophecies of the Old Testament.

5. The death of Jesus was undisputed.
He did not pretend to be dead. The grisly details are recorded of his resurrection, including the fact that a spear was thrust into his side and the Romans did not have to break his legs.

6. The burial of Jesus was public and secure.
He was placed in the tomb of a prominent Jew. The huge stone was set in place and sealed. Roman guards were posted and if they had truly “slept” through the stealing of Jesus’ body, they would have been executed. Besides, would this fearful band of disciples have the nerve to overcome the guards or sneak in to steal the body?

7. The evidence for Jesus’ resurrection is convincing.
The resurrection was predicted by Old Testament prophets. Jesus predicted his death and resurrection several times to his disciples. He appeared over twelve times to over 500 people over a period of forty days. He appeared to Saul, the great persecutor of the early Christians, and his life was transformed. The transformation of Peter from cowering in front of the accusations of a little girl to boldly proclaiming Christ in public and in front of the religious authorities is amazing.

The fact remains that Christians don’t have to throw their brains in the trash can to say that Jesus died and rose again. When you put the evidence in court and the witnesses on the stand, the truth points very solidly in favor of Jesus. What is proclaimed in the Bible is true.

So, what does this mean for us today?

1. The resurrection of Jesus Christ validates the claim that he is the way, the truth and the life.

2. It gives absolute hope for the future. Jesus tells us, “Because I live, you also will live.” (John 14:19) He also says, “In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14:2-3)

3. It offers spiritual life right now. By faith, we receive Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. Our lives our transformed and we are given peace.

You are the jury. You are given the opportunity to accept or reject the evidence. Your response will determine your destiny.

There are certainly skeptics in the world whose goal is to refute the resurrection itself or even the existence of Christ. Even though there is enough evidence strong enough for a truly objective person to consider the truth as stated in God’s Word. So, then why do people still stubbornly reject Jesus’ claim?

We are given a clue in John 3:19. “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because there deeds were evil.” People reject the truths of the gospel because they love the darkness. The Light of Christ exposes our life. It reveals the fact that we are full of pride and self-centeredness. Our sinful nature exalts our self over a God. The Light tells us to turn from darkness (our self, our pride) and turn to Christ. We turn because we realize that we have a need we can’t possibly fill on our own – not because Christians don’t have good answers to difficult questions.

For all those who are reading this post and have not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, I ask you to come to the Light and receive Christ. For those who already believe, stay strong and do not be afraid or timid to share the truth. Remember, Jesus told us, “I am with you to the very end of the age.”

More Food for thought

The world is seeking scientists. The Church is seeking scholars. But God is seeking his true prophets.

Where is the power of God that we see in the Prophets, in Christ and in the Apostles? And what are we doing that is now different in the Church from that I read of in the book of Acts in the Bible?

(Psa 63:1) O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
(Psa 63:2) To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

(Psa 63:4) Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

Who Shall Dwell With the Everlasting Burnings

Isaiah 63:4-6 For the day of vengeance (The day of fire) is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come. (The day of redemption of the little ones) And I looked, and there was none to help; (No man) and I wondered that there was none to uphold: (No intercessor) therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me. “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3. “And the Peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:7.

Luke 4:14 “And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.” Over the years many have questioned the lack of power in their Baptism of the Holy Spirit as opposed to what they read in Scripture and the New Testament and here we have the answer that has been in plain sight for all to see all along and in quite concrete terms –

THE HARNESS OF THE LORD

For in the hour when famine sweeps the land He shall feed by His own hand those who are submitted to His perfect will and who dwell in the secret place of the Most High. When terror stalks the land those in His harness shall not be afraid for they shall feel His bit and bridle and know the guidance of His Spirit. In the hour when the traditions of the religious systems have proven faLet us wait before Him until He puts His noose around us and draws us to His place of training. And let us learn of the dealings of God and the movings of His Spirit until at last we feel His harness drop about us and hear His voice guiding us. The Problem of the Ten Virgins

There were ten virgins, but like many groups of people, there was a line of division among them. Let us consider the following: they were ALL virgins, separated from the world, or stated another way, they were ALL saved. They ALL had lamps lit and burning, filled with the blessings of God, letting their lights shine as they went. They were ALL called to the wedding feast, and they ALL came, unlike those in the parable of the feast where they that were bidden ALL made excuses. They ALL definitely loved the Lord, and they ALL were ready as they lined up to wait for Him. The five foolish cried in dismay, “Our lamps are going out!” It was not something they wanted at all. They asked to share, which under other circumstances was the Christian thing to do. But this oil was something that could not be shared. It has been said many times that in God, good things, even “Christian things” are the enemy of God’s best! Good things can ruin you. What you do not know can hurt you, just as it did to those five. I would like to suppose that part of the answer to this problem for the ten virgins is that the five foolish were relying on their present experience—which suddenly dried up, whereas the five wise virgins had a reserve for the time of drought: something they had paid a price for earlier. They may not have even been aware of it but they had it with them in their hour of need. This something that the five had in their possession caused God to acknowledge them. Its lack in the five foolish caused Him to respond, “I never (intimately) knew you. The oil it definitely speaks of a personal relationship with the Lord since He stated that He did not know those who did not have it when He came.

Choice of the Godly

In the prophet Isaiah we find a gripping statement. Isaiah 56:3-5 Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree. For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my Sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.

Too many wolves in sheep clothing in the churches today

We live in an epidemic of adultery fornication divorce and abortion in the church. – the reason we live in such an epidemic in the church is that Christians of every stripe. Evangelicals, Fundamentalists, Pentecostals, and Charismatics, have no foundation of the rock of the Word of God in their life. Most believers that I have met have never once read the bible cover to cover. They have come to believe that if they mumble a few words about accepting Christ in their heart, that it is now all good, that they have passed from death unto life, and so they do not have to worry anymore about such mundane things as their having to obey the Words and Commandments of Jesus Christ and the Apostles. Nothing could be father from the truth, disobedience and rebellion no matter where when or what you may have mumbled at some point of your life – brings forth eternal death in your soul. (Mat 7:13 KJV) Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. One in five abortions in this nation last year were done by people who declared themselves to be Evangelicals or Born Again. Nearly half or 46% of all babies in the City of Brotherly love were dismembered and brutally killed by means of abortion. Moreover, there are twenty-five other major urban cities in America that report having a higher abortion rate than live birth rate. Issues4Life Foundation reported 49% percent of all abortions are African-American though we only make up 12% of the population. It is an amazing and terrible thing when in a single generation the Church (And we are speaking here of Evangelicals, Fundamentalists, Pentecostals, and Charismatics) — have exceeded the lost in fornication, have exceeded the lost in divorce, have exceeded the lost in adultery, and now have exceeded the lost in abortion. Galatians 5:18-23 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. (Paul repeats this again. The list above is a list of disqualifications for salvation.) Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers (Fornicators) and adulterers God will judge. (Destroy) James 2:10-12 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
